Wang Yi: China Will Continue to Help Friendly Neighbors and Other Countries in Need, a Commitment Reinforced by its Global Vision of Community with a Shared Future

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi took a phone call from Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali of Nepal on Monday.

Wang noted that China and Nepal are friendly neighbors connected by mountains and rivers. On China's National Day of Mourning earlier this month, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari sent a special message of sympathy to President Xi Jinping, and Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli expressed support for China on twitter. These kind actions are a testimony to our friendship across the Himalayas and much appreciated by the Chinese side.

Wang said that with its significant progress in controlling the outbreak, China has not only protected the health and safety of its own people, but also bought precious time and provided useful experience for the rest of the world. Even though China still has to deal with the challenges and risks posed by the importation of cases and potential domestic resurgence, it will continue to act on the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind, and do everything possible to help other countries in need, especially its friendly neighbors.

Wang said that since the outbreak began, the Nepalese government has taken decisive actions in light of the national conditions to contain the spread of COVID-19 inside Nepal. It has done its utmost to protect the health and safety of its people. It shows that the Communist Party of Nepal is truly a party dedicated to its founding mission. As the disease spreads fast in South Asia, the challenge facing Nepal remains considerable. China will continue to provide assistance to Nepal through government channels and give Nepal the support it needs in purchasing outbreak control supplies from China.

Gyawali conveyed Nepal's congratulations to China for successfully containing the spread of COVID-19 and achieving important progress in its fight against the outbreak under the able leadership of President Xi. He expressed high appreciation for China's timely assistance to countries in need, China's commitment to international cooperation on COVID-19, and the active role played by China for the success of the G20 Extraordinary Leaders' Summit. He said that China's efforts and progress in outbreak control have set a fine example for the world. Guided by China's example, the international community will ultimately prevail over the outbreak. Nepal appreciates the containment supplies sent by the Chinese government and the tremendous support and help from Chinese companies and private organizations. It will work together with China in solidarity to win this joint fight against COVID-19.
