Wen Jiabao Meets with Russian Deputy Prime Minister

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai on the afternoon of September 29, 2007 with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov who is here for the 11th meeting of the committee for the regular meeting between the prime ministers.

Wen praised for the work that the committee for the regular meeting between the prime ministers and the committee for humanistic cooperation had done, saying that the meetings of the two committees had achieved fruitful results and made sound preparation for the 12th regular meeting between the prime ministers.

Wen said this year marks the beginning of the second decade of Sino-Russian strategic cooperative partnership. The current Sino-Russian relations had reached anew height with steadily growing cooperation in all areas and closer cooperation in international affairs. He said China would work with Russia to promote strategic and cooperative partnership.

Zhukov said the continuously developing strategic and cooperative partnership has created favorable conditions for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in all areas. Russia and China had deepened the cooperation on trade, energy resources, nuclear power, and aviation, and there is huge potential and broad prospect for development of the cooperation, said the Russian deputy prime minister. The two countries have witnessed rapid development of humanistic cooperation, he said, noting the influential "Year of China" in Russia. Zhukov said Russia was looking forward to the 12th regular meeting between the prime ministers due to be held in Moscow in November, and believed it would inject the new dynamics to the strategic and cooperative partnership, as well as mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in all areas.

Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi attended the meeting.
