Belgian Federal Government and Foreign Ministry sent messages of condolences on Sichuan earthquake

CHENGDU, April 22 -- A 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Lushan county of Ya'an city in southwest China's Sichuan Province at 8:02 a.m. Saturday Beijing Time.

The death toll has risen to 192, with 23 missing, authorities said Monday. A Sichuan provincial government emergency command center spokesman said as of 6 p.m., 11,470 people were injured, 968 of them seriously.

Rescuers have saved 320 people out of the rubbles by Monday noon, Sichuan provincial government said at a press briefing. More than 22,000 soldiers and paramilitary officers are now deployed in the quake zone.

Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Didier Reynders have sent messages of condolences to the government and people of China on Sichuan earthquake.
