Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs

On June 14, 2012, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks in the Foreign Ministry with visiting Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and European Affairs Didier Reynders.

Yang said Belgium is an important cooperative partner of China in the EU and in recent years, bilateral relations have witnessed a good momentum of development. Under the new situation, the Chinese side is willing to work with Belgium to earnestly implement the results of the visits to Belgium by Vice Premier Li Keqiang and State Councilor Liu Yandong, increase mutual trust and expand cooperation areas. China is also ready to expand the scale of economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges, and push forward bilateral pragmatic cooperation, so as to raise the ties to a new level.

Reynders said that the frequent high-level visits in recent years have injected new vitality into the development of bilateral relations. Belgium is willing to further increase investment in China, conduct cooperation with China in high and new technology, circular economy, biological pharmaceuticals, agriculture and other aspects, keep close cultural and educational exchanges and promote faster development of the ties.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
